Our team
Peter Douben, founder of REACHWise and its Director, is heading the team. Prior to this he was Director of REACH and Chemicals Policy at Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council. Peter has contributed to the European Commission’s Interim Strategy through participation on the Commission Working Group. He was, amongst others, Head of Environmental Protection during his time with Unilever.
With a background in scientific risk assessment and practical management, this has put REACHWise in a good position to undertake complex work.
Gill Wayne is a graduate scientist and member of IOSH with a NEBOSH Diploma in occupational health and safety. Gill is also an associate of the environmental management institute, IEMA and a City &Guilds qualified trainer. She has over 30 years of industrial experience, mainly within the pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing industries in quality, safety and environmental related roles ranging through general laboratory work, research, international auditing, risk assessment, writing procedures, training, and developing and implementing management systems in line with ISO standards. With her broad experience of various areas of science, Gill is particularly well placed to communicate with people in many different fields.
Peter Breidenbach as a degree in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, University of Cologne. He has extensive experience from inside the chemical industry working on production sites for some 20 years. During this time he became involved in supply chain management and communication. Later in his career, Peter has been involved in chemical regulation such as IPPC and REACH.
Martin Holt has over 30 years of experience in the chemical industry and has been involved for much of this time in international groups examining the fate and effects of chemicals in the environment.
During this time at Shell he was project leader for higher olefins and derivatives environmental programme, and served as an Environmental Advisor. Involved in European risk assessment methods from the early 80s, he has a wealth of experience and expertise. He was the Environmental Sciences Manager at the European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals (ECETOC) in Brussels. In this role he managed numerous task forces addressing specific issues around the environmental risk assessment of chemicals, organized a number of international scientific workshops. During this period he was also responsible for the scientific management and coordination of more than 20 projects funded by Cefic LRI under their environmental programme.
He was responsible for the coordinated input from industry scientists to the revision of the EU Technical Guidance Document in 2001.
Martin contributes to REACHWise activities, continues to be involved with ECETOC activities on a number of projects which require environmental expertise and is working on a project funded under the CEFIC LRI.
Cleo Russell has been trained in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Surrey,
Guildford. She supports activities on the impact of REACH and CLP on companies, provides
input to SIEFs support -

In addition to meeting scientific, technical and business needs, we are currently engaged in providing IUCLID5 training. This is the only means of submitting the registration dossier to EChA. It also enables you to work effectively in consortia and a SIEF (Substance Information Exchange Forum, a legal requirement to avoid duplication of testing with vertebrates).
